BBS Energy Works developmental courses are approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for one Special or Regular Education point per hour of Professional Development Points (PDP’s), [as well as 1 CEU (Continuing Education Unit) per 10 PDP’s]. That’s a total of 56 fun, useful, and engaging PDP’s offered at BBS Energy Works! BBS DESE accreditation varification.
BBS Energy Work on-site courses are eligible for parents and caregivers to receive $250 off educational expenses through the Mass.gov Council Empowerment Funds Program. This program empowers you, a caregiver, or family member with developmental disabilities to learn and grow by helping you gain knowledge and advocacy skills to support independence, productivity and inclusion. Developmental disabilities may include, but are not limited to, social, emotional, behavioral, and academic struggles. If you are an educator looking for financial assistance to satisfy your PDP’s, and you have someone in your life that qualifies you for this grant, it is a win/win for you!

This course focus’ on a piece of development that is sometimes noticed, but not often addressed to this depth. This developmental piece is referred to as Early Reflex Development. It is about our movement patterns associated with lower brain development, hence the second description in this course title, Brain Building from the Bottom Up!
Beginning from the embryo state in utero, we develop using sequential movement patterns. This sequence plays out to create neuro-pathways, sensory systems, muscle tone, and many more foundation elements which set the stage for things to come as we grow and age. If we do not complete this sequence, or it is interrupted from time to time, it will show up as frustrations and struggles right from birth and beyond.
Come learn about these reflexes and experience their movement patterns, their functions, their effects on our brain and body first hand. Most importantly, walk away with simple techniques to help move along a reflex which has been stuck for days, months, or years causing the need for exhausting compensations.

This course concentrates on every day Functional Vision skills, such as tracking and scanning, and how they are being developed through Early Reflex movements. As the sequence of development moves along, so does the vision system in unison. If any of the early movement work learned about in the Early Reflex Development 101 course is missed or not experienced long enough, the vision system is equally effected.
You are not going to want to miss this important piece of development which effects reading, writing, sports and many more aspects of our lives which you may not suspect are related!
